Falling Sand on AppStore

Falling Sand on AppStore

I am on AppStore with Falling Sand - this time this an universal app works with native iPhone and iPad resolution. Application is highly optimized and works smoothly even on iPhone/iPod 3.

“This is not a game but a highly addictive toy with thousands of fans around the world.”

The idea is just to create paths for the falling grains of sand, salt, water and oil to pass through. By mixing the different elements together you can create many colorful designs, complex structures that vary in space and time - the only limit is your imagination!

Send us your own patterns and screenshots! We will add them into next release and post on the site!

How to build the system?

To draw walls for the falling particles you can use elements:

See legend to get to know how does it works:

  • Here is the canvas for your projects
  • Select material
  • Set the pen size and the amount of each material being created at the top of the screen by clicking the corresponding buttons
  • Use a pattern from the gallery - its colour depends on the chosen material
  • Take a picture of your design (It works on iOS4 or higher. You can see it in picture’s gallery or on iTunes->Device->Apps->File Sharing)
  • Clear the screen
  • Open the floating toolbar
  • Open the Settings panel
  • Patterns gallery selector

Settings panel:

Settings panel can be opened by clicking the button in the bottom buttons panel next to the gallery button. It allows you to disable HUMAN feature in the application. Textures filtering may be turned on by Smooth pixels checkbox - filtered textures are drawn less sharp. But it may slow down the application, so it is disabled by default. Gravity slider allows you to change the factor of movements of humans: from slow to fast, from up to down. Low-res low resolution option is available only on iPad. It should be used in case of low speed problem : it switches the simulation field into lower resolution (75% of original resolution).
